PROJECT LOCATION: Snare River Basin
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Over the past few years NWT Power Corporation has spent a significant amount of money on diesel fuel to generate electricity for the City of Yellowknife and a few surrounding villages. The reason for this expenditure lies with a short drought period extending from 2013 to 2016.

The objective of this research is to understand how antecedent hydrological/climatological conditions in an unregulated basin within the Snare system influence flow patterns, specifically the conditions that result in low discharge contributions to downstream hydroelectric reservoirs.
